The trail to Trenton Falls, about a mile from our home, is open twice a year. We visited the grave of John Sherman, the man who in the early 1800s broke a trail through the woods and

built a small cabin for his family on the cliff of a grand series of waterfalls.

He and his family are buried on a small rise, at his request within earshot of the tumbling water. The graves are enclosed within a wrought iron gate, and the engravings of names and dates are still visible.
John Sherman's intrepid spirit inspired my story A Tea-Dark Bearing, which will be published in the spring of 2025.
